The Anna Frost Big Trail Weekend

Whether it is winning some of the world’s biggest ultra trail races, traveling to some of the most exotic and mouthwatering running locations of the world, or simply inspiring everyday trail runners to be themselves and just get out there and run and realise their dreams, Anna Frost has inspired a generation.

Taking place at the world renowned Coed y Brenin first park between the 29th and 31st of May, the Anna Frost Big Trail Weekend will be a unique event of seminars, trail runs, film showings, Q &A sessions and the launch of Anna’s new project Fearless Frosty.

Thursday the 28th will be a media day followed by an evening run and yoga session starting at 6pm, completely free of charge. This is followed on the 29th and 30th of May ‘A Day with Anna Frost’ hosted by the Kiwi trail star.

Anna returns to some of her Welsh roots at Coed y Brenin to present a seminar on women’s running, with in depth Q & A sessions on her global trail running exploits, talk attendees through her touching film ‘Home‘, and lead a run through the forest trails.


Anna says:

“I am super excited to come back to my stomping grounds in Wales, a place where I learnt so much about myself, about challenging your comfort zones, about adventure and about the amazing mountains. The people and the place are close to my heart to coming back here to share my passion for running is such an honour”.

Having recently launched her exciting Sisu Girls-backed project Fearless Frosty too, Anna will also host a book signing session on the day whereby attendees will get the chance to purchase an exclusive signed copy of the book.

Friday the 29th of May will be the main ‘women only’ day, starting at 9.30am and running through to 4.30pm, with Saturday the 30th being open to all and a slightly shorter session of 9.30am – 3.00pm

Each day will also include lunch and there will be an exclusive Anna Frost goody bag for each lucky attendee. Tickets are priced at £15 per ticket (plus booking fee), per person and will be limited to 100 places on Friday and 60 places on the Saturday.

Saturday the 30th of May also sees the Trails in Motion world tour arriving at Coed y Brenin!

Trails In Motion is an annual international film tour that brings a collection of the finest trail and ultra running films to passionate audiences around the world and Run.Coed y Brenin is proud to be one of select number of UK host venues to stage a screening of the third annual trail running film tour, presented by Trail Runner magazine.

Submitted by film makers from all over the world, nine films about trail and ultra running, five short and four documentary, make up this year’s tour. One of those films, the most talked about trail running film of the past two years, is Finding Traction, a 56 minute documentary that follows the epic story of ultra running legend Nikki Kimball as she attempts to break the fastest-known-time record along the 273-mile Long Trail in Vermont, America’s oldest hiking trail.

Other exciting films on this year’s tour includes Mexican production La Triple Corona, featuring one of Central America’s toughest race series, as well as From The Trails, which profiles Japanese trail runner Hiroki Ishikawa in a high-action montage around the trails of the Shin-Etsu region of Japan.

The event will also have a special guest appearance from Anna Frost who will take questions from the floor at the midway interval of the evening.

This exciting event will be limited to 75 places and priced at £12 (plus booking fee), and includes pizza and a beer or soft drink at the interval.

The weekend is rounded off with the inaugural Anna Frost 10k trail run.

The event is a non-competitive trail run, aiming to make trail running accessible to all standards, and most especially women, holding close the aspect of an authentic, panoramic, and challenging trail running, filled with the experience of natural trails, woodlands and rivers in the majestic beauty of of the world-renowned Coed y Brenin Forest Park in the Snowdonia National Park, Wales.

You can expect all of the benefits of a trail running event – greater organisation, a marked and marshalled route, with fuel stations, but with the emphasis on taking part, completing the challenge – inspiring both achievement and participation as it’s founding principles as well as your chance to run with Anna.

Taking place on Sunday the 31st of May 2015 at 11.00am, the Anna Frost 10k is open to both men and women. The route is on fully marked and marshalled forest roads and way-marked footpaths, with some challenging ascents and descents which will ensure that sense of achievement after the event! The run takes in around 200m of ascent and as you will see from the course profile, ascends early on, before descending to the river Mawddach and steadily climbing back along the valley to the finish line at the Coed y Brenin visitor centre.

The expectation is for the places to fill up fast for the event, with a strict limit of 400 runners for the event.

Following the run there will a lottery style presentation of 20 prizes including your chance to win one of 5 signed copies of Anna’s Fearless Frosty book.

Priced at £15 (plus online booking fee) the Anna Frost 10k offers great value for money, with at least £3 of your entry fee going towards local good causes and support organisations.
