On the eve of the mighty Trail Marathon Wales race we’ll be kick starting our big weekend with a 5km run aimed at getting everyone out on the trails of Coed y Brenin.
The Salomon Friday Night 5 will be a fun-filled race, taking in some of the more accessible and less technical trails of this beautiful forest – but this is Coed y Brenin, so expect some hills! Starting at 6.30pm on the 16th of June, 2017, the event will be part of the Friday evening festival which includes the STMW Welcome Party, music and a special guest starter.
Costing just £5 (plus 90p Eventbrite booking fee), the key message of the Friday Night 5 is to encourage new runners to take up trail running and to give the next generation of academi Coed y Brenin youngsters an event to aim for, with all profits from the race being ploughed back into the academi.
The event is open to all runners aged 12 and over on race day.
We will also have a 1.5km fun event for under 12s. Ras Anifeiliaid Bach will at 6pm and be a free-to-enter race, with registration on the day. The course will take part on some of the Coed y Brenin Animal Puzzle Trail. All runners under the age of 8 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
Entries to the Salomon Friday Night 5 open on the 27th of December 2016 via the link above – so set your goal for 2017, to get out there and get trail running!
