BUFF Winter Trail Wales 2022 – Event Statement // Datganiad Digwyddiad

Following the statement of the Welsh Government on the 22nd of December that Wales will move to COVID-19 Alert Level 2 on December 26th, this now means that ‘Outdoor events will be limited to 50, with 30 indoors‘ and we have been forced to cancel the BUFF® Winter Trail Wales event on Saturday January 15th, 2022.

We are very disappointed in this development, not only for all of our runners, but all of our suppliers and partners and of course local businesses who benefit greatly from our events at Run Coed y Brenin. Equally, we have been overwhelmed with the support and kindness from runners and friends in this last 24 hours, it means a lot to us.

However, we are of course aware that there is a wider public health situation and we will always adhere to the law and current WG legislation surrounding the pandemic.

In view of this, and in line with the Terms and Conditions of the event, the 2022 race will now be Virtual and you can view the procedure for a race cancellation due to Covid restrictions via the BWTW race page, these Ts and Cs were also posted clearly on the TDL Event Services entry portal page when you entered the event.

Some good news, maybe, is that we currently do not anticipate a situation as with previous lockdowns where people cannot move about freely. This would mean that runners will be able to choose a favourite route or location to run their virtual race, and some lucky ones may even be able to run the Coed y Brenin Half Marathon route between the 22nd and 29th of January, Welsh Government restrictions permitting. More on this over the coming weeks as we all follow the WG guidance in the new year.

Ahead of the virtual event you will also recieve your bespoke BUFF, WTW thermal mug and race number, along with instructions on how to upload your efforts onto our leaderboard. We will also provide a link to the HM gpx.

We will also be supporting our local beneficiaries as much as possible around the event and will be making sizable donations from race funds to the South Snowdonia Search And Rescue Team, Ganllwyd Community Council and other local organisations.

Thanks as ever for your incredible support at this time and I would like to wish you all a happy and safe Christmas and New Year and will be in touch again in early 2022 with some Virtual BUFF® Winter Trail Wales news.

Diolch o galon, Matt

Matt Ward (Race Organiser), BUFF Winter Trail Wales

Yn dilyn datganiad Llywodraeth Cymru ar yr 22ain o Rhagfyr y bydd Cymru yn symud i Lefel Rhybudd 2 COVID-19 ar Rhagfyr 26ain, mae hyn bellach yn golygu y bydd ‘digwyddiadau awyr agored yn gyfyngedig i 50, gyda 30 y tu mewn‘ ac rydym wedi cael ein gorfodi i wneud hynny canslo digwyddiad BUFF® Winter Trail Wales ar ddydd Sadwrn Ionawr 15fed, 2022.

Rydym yn hynod siomedig yn y datblygiad hwn, nid yn unig i’n holl rhedwyr, ond i’n holl gyflenwyr a’n partneriaid ac wrth gwrs busnesau lleol sy’n elwa’n ddiolchgar o’n digwyddiadau yn Run Coed y Brenin. Yn yr un modd, rydyn ni wedi cael ein gorlethu â’r gefnogaeth a’r caredigrwydd gan rhedwyr a ffrindiau yn ystod y 24 awr ddiwethaf hon, mae’n golygu lot i ni.

Fodd bynnag, rydym yn ymwybodol wrth gwrs bod sefyllfa iechyd cyhoeddus ehangach a byddwn bob amser yn cadw at y gyfraith a deddfwriaeth LlC gyfredol sy’n ymwneud â’r pandemig.

O ystyried hyn, ac yn unol â Thelerau ac Amodau’r digwyddiad, bydd ras 2022 bellach yn Rhithiol a gallwch weld y weithdrefn ar gyfer canslo ras oherwydd cyfyngiadau Covid trwy dudalen ras BWTW, roedd y T ac A hyn hefyd wedi’i bostio’n glir ar dudalen cofrestru TDL pan wnaethoch chi nodi’r digwyddiad.

Un peth o newyddion da effalai yw nad ydym ar hyn o bryd yn rhagweld sefyllfa fel gyda chloeon blaenorol lle na all pobl symud o gwmpas yn rhydd. Byddai hyn yn golygu y bydd rhedwyr yn gallu dewis hoff lwybr neu leoliad i rhedeg eu ras rithiol, ac efallai y bydd rhai rhai lwcus hyd yn oed yn gallu rhedeg llwybr Hanner Marathon Coed y Brenin rhwng yr 22ain a’r 29ain o Ionawr, gyda chyfyngiadau Llywodraeth Cymru yn caniatáu. Mwy am hyn dros yr wythnosau nesaf wrth i ni i gyd ddilyn canllawiau LlC yn y flwyddyn newydd.

Cyn y digwyddiad rhithiol byddwch hefyd yn derbyn eich BUFF pwrpasol, mwg thermol WTW a’ch rhif ras, ynghyd â chyfarwyddiadau ar sut i uwchlwytho’ch ymdrechion ar ein bwrdd arweinwyr. Byddwn hefyd yn darparu dolen i’r HM gpx.

Byddwn hefyd yn cefnogi ein buddiolwyr lleol gymaint â phosibl o amgylch y digwyddiad a byddwn yn rhoi rhoddion sylweddol o gronfeydd rasio i Dîm Chwilio ac Achub De Eryri, Cyngor Cymuned Ganllwyd a sefydliadau lleol eraill.

Diolch fel arfer am eich cefnogaeth anhygoel ar yr adeg hon a hoffwn ddymuno Nadolig a Blwyddyn Newydd hapus a diogel i chi i gyd, a byddwn mewn cysylltiad eto yn gynnar yn 2022 gyda rhywfaint o newyddion Virtual BUFF® Winter Trail Wales.

Diolch o galon, Matt
